git some:
like a litre of water or stock
some sweet potatoes
less regular potatoes
a few carrots
pinch of sea salt
tablespoon vegetable oil
a couple apples
bit of fresh ginger root
dash of cinnamon
do this:
1. boil stock/water
2. peel the potatoes and the carrots and the apples.
3. cube them up into basically same-sized pieces.
4. heat the oil in a sauce pan and add the potatoes and carrots.
5. stir to coat for a bit and then add to the stock/water.
6. cook'em until they're nice and soft, maybe like twenty minutes
7. add the apples and the ginger and the cinnamon right at the fifteen minute mark.
8. let cool. this is important. otherwise your blender will get unhappy.
unless you have a super blender that you can make hot soups in.
then it's probably ok.
9. pour it all in a blender and whiz it around a bit til it's nice and smooth.
10. garnish with apple slices and cinnamon :) eat.
why aren't you supposed to put hot things in a blender?
ReplyDeletewell mine has a big warning in capital letters which says "DO NOT BLEND HOT STUFF" or something to that effect. but i did anyways, and then the soup which was sort of still warm got really really like steaming hot while it was in there. i think it stresses it out? i just thought i should put in a disclaimer unless someone was like "hey, i made that soup and then my blender exploded, and now i have to lick the soup off the ceiling and i can't garnish it anymore."
ReplyDeleteyou can't put hot things in a blender because there is no room for the heat/steam to escape and the lid could potentially blow off :)
